Dieppe
We got to Dieppe very late.
The sat nav was being stupid and we had no cat food. This involved a panic drive to the port where my bf parked the van and I had to run around at night, trying to find the corner shop.
Firstly, Dieppe is beautiful. Even at night when I couldn't look properly the twinkling lights of the bars and the small roads were so pretty. Even so I was on a mission to retrieve cat food and find my way back.
On 3 hours sleep.
So I stop a French couple by a giant bridge and ask them ou est le..
My brain can't remember shop in french.
So I say shop.
They walk away from me in disgust.
I hold back tears and carry on going until I see 2 shops! One has 2 very friendly looking men standing in the door and the other has a gang of french teens outside. I pick the first and run around being blinded by a different language looking for cat food.
I find and purchase and make it back to the van without crying. I step in and say
"Magasin!"
Next gos a truly horrendous search for an aire. This is like a campsite and we had no idea what we were doing. Sat nav took us to a camping car park. There are barriers and buttons.
I didn't get water in the shop. We have nothing except cat food.
Let the fun begin.
We find a space away from the barriers and then have that disagreement in hushed voices about water and toilets. I get out of the van and walk to the barriers. It says the aire is full.
But there are like 15 spaces where we are parked.
Nonplussed and running on adrenaline I stomp back to the van and tell the bf who then gos with the water bottle and comes back with a camping card and full water.
We drink and go to bed.
